Configuration Guide

Optimize your game performance and customize mod settings for the best experience

Performance Optimization

Configure your game settings to get the best performance on your system

Video Settings

Adjust these settings to balance visual quality and performance:

  • Render Distance: 8-12 chunks (lower for better performance)
  • Graphics: Fast
  • Clouds: Off or Fast
  • Particles: Minimal
  • Entity Distance: 50-75%
  • Max Framerate: Match your monitor refresh rate

These settings provide a good balance for most computers. Adjust based on your system's capabilities.

Sodium Settings

Sodium improves performance significantly. Optimize with these settings:

  • Quality: Set most options to Fast/Low
  • Enable "Use Block Face Culling"
  • Enable "Use Fog Occlusion"
  • Disable "Animate Only Visible Textures"
  • Chunk Building: Set to Asynchronous Multi-Thread

For low-end systems, set everything to lowest. For mid-range systems, you can increase some visual settings like texture quality.

Java Arguments

For improved performance, add these Java arguments to your launcher:

-Xmx6G -Xms4G -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:G1NewSizePercent=30 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=40 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=8M -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:G1HeapWastePercent=5 -XX:G1MixedGCCountTarget=4 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=15 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=90 -XX:G1RSetUpdatingPauseTimePercent=5 -XX:SurvivorRatio=32 -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=1

Adjust the -Xmx6G -Xms4G values based on your available RAM:

  • 4GB System: -Xmx2G -Xms2G
  • 8GB System: -Xmx4G -Xms4G
  • 16GB+ System: -Xmx6G -Xms6G

Note

Never allocate more than 50% of your total system RAM to Minecraft.

Important

Always test your settings after making changes. If you experience crashes or instability, try reverting to more conservative settings.
